Our Work with Shelters & Rescues
1
Assessment
Our team works with local shelters and rescues, completing behavioral assessments and then creating training or behavioral modification programs.
2
Group Classes
At the request of our rescue partners, adopters and/or fosters are able to participate in our Level 1 Group Class at no charge.
3
Training and
Behavioral
Rehabilitation
Dogs participate in our 3 week Intensive Training Program. Participants will often stay at our facility until their adoption so their training and or behavioral modification protocols are kept up.
Sponsor a Bath, Groom, or Group Class...
Reaching for the Stars offers a Sponsor a Bath or Groom for the Rescue dogs in our care.
A sponsored Bath includes: Bath, Brushing, Ear Cleaning, Nail Grinding, Teeth Brushing, Anal Gland Expression
A sponsored Groom includes: the Sponsor Bath Service and a Hair Cut Tailored to the dog's needs!
A significant reason dogs are relinquished to shelters are due to families be overwhelmed by common behavioral issues, ex. pulling on leash, jumping on guests, inappropriate chewing. On occasion, rescues and shelters will ask us if we can assist the families in addressing the behavioral or training issues so their dog doesn't have to enter the shelter system.
You can help by sponsoring a Level 1 Basic Obedience Group Class. When classes are donated we reach out to our Rescue and Shelter Partners to let them know that the resource is available.
